Dining In Brisbane

While in Brisbane, your choices for dinning are endless. Everywhere you go there are excellent restaurants for you to try. Some of the more noteworthy suburbs are as follows.

Bulimba: this is a laid back, informal suburb and full of quaint charm. It has over fifteen casual al-fresco dining restaurants as well as various fashion shops and a historic cinema complex all stretched along the Oxford Street, where most of the restaurants are found. Bulimba caters for everyone so its a great spot for families, as well as a romantic night out. Some places to watch out for include; Oxford 152 a contemporary restaurant with an award winning micro brewery; Chill Bar a modern Australian cuisine; Earth & Sea Pizza & Pasta BYO Family Restaurant “where you can find a great Aussie steak.

Paddington, Caxton Street: This is for lovers of dancing, music and fine dining. The Casablanca, Hotel LA and Caxton Hotel, each have bars, live music and dancing. Gambaros, established in 1972, is one of Brisbane’s oldest restaurants and a great place to dine for seafood favorites and wine.

Chinatown: Passing under the traditional entrance with its protective temple dogs, you feel like you are in another world. As well as the obvious Chinese restaurants, you can also find other Asian cuisines such as Thai, Japanese, Malaysian, Cambodian and Vietnamese. The long established Golden Palace and King of Kings Seafood are great Chinese restaurants, for Japanese you could try Koh-Ya where you can grill your own food at the table, and for Thai traditional rural food, try Thai-Wi-Rat.

CBD: Broken down into three zones, with many dining options to choice from. The first zone, Queen Street Mall, has mostly food courts and a few fresh air cafes. The second zone is on the waterfront, Riverside, Eagle Street Pier. Here you will find Customs House, Groove Train, Jade Buddha, and Cha Cha Char, which makes one of the best steaks I’ve ever tasted. The third zone is bordered by Felix, Edward and Albert street. Here you can find Belgian Beer Garden, Giannis, Palettes Brasserie Bar and the Brasserie on the river.
